Who Needs Texas SR22 Car Insurance?

In Texas, SR-22 car insurance forms are usually required when a driver’s license has been suspended due to serious moving violations like reckless driving or driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) convictions. In Texas, SR22 auto insurance forms need to be filed if you are convicted of any drug offense, DUI or DWI convictions, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance or getting into an accident without insurance.

Is SR22 Car Insurance Required in Texas?

Texas is serious about their car insurance rules and regulations, and the Texas State Department of Motor Vehicles does require drivers who have been convicted of a DWI, DUI or drug offenses to file a Texas SR-22 auto certificate. The TX SR22 insurance form must show that the driver is carrying at least the state mandated minimum amount of car insurance coverage for Texas. In Texas, the state requires that drivers carry at least $25,000 per person per accident in liability coverage, $50,000 for more than one person per accident liability coverage, and at least $25,000 in property damage coverage.
