“High-risk” drivers are those that have had a DWI in the past two years, anyone refusing to take a blood alcohol concentration test, and drivers that have failed to keep their automobile insurance coverage active continuously.

Are There Different Types of Missouri SR-22 Forms?

There are three different types of Missouri SR-22 auto insurance certificates. The first type, the Operator’s Certificate, is necessary when the motorist does not own a vehicle but still drives. The second type, the Owner’s Certificate, should be filed when the motorist has a registered vehicle. The third type of SR-22 form, the Operator-Owner’s Certificate is used when the motorist has more than one automobile, and drives non-owned vehicles.

Is SR-22 Insurance Required in Missouri?

If a car owner does not keep $60,000 on deposit with the Department of Revenue they are required to purchase auto insurance to cover any damages incurred during the operation of the car. The state requires a minimum of $25,000 per person for injuries, $50,000 per accident for injuries, and $10,000 per accident for property damages. Anytime there is a lapse in coverage, an SR22, or an additional $30,000 deposit will be require. A Missouri SR-22 auto insurance form is also required for two years after a DWI or BAC test refusal.
